The Amalgatome is a revolution in burn surgery and should be considered the new standard of care. Not only does it excise in a much more uniform and expedient fashion leading to better graft take and appearance, but also can be used to harvest skin grafts without any concern for dermatome lacerations and a consistent depth. Utilizing the Amalgatome drastically increases operative efficiency which leads to less OR time and costs as well as less blood loss and better excision leading to better care for our patients. The Amalgatome has completely changed my practice, and for the better, as I feel like I am now able to treat patients in the best manner to give them the best results.
